Steve and Rhonda Williamson have been married for almost 19 years. They met working together in the 1980’s at Atari Games. They became good friends, dated for a few years then married June 22, 1991. A little over a year later their son, Kyle, was born. After consideration for their family’s future and the need for a safe place for their son to grow up, they traveled to Boise. Rhonda new of Boise as a child as she had relatives here and Steve loves the outdoors, so it was love at first sight. They moved to Boise right after Kyle’s first birthday.
Loving the change geographically, but not happy with the choices in childcare as their son attended 8 facilities in just over 6 months, Rhonda decided to "do it herself". R House opened its doors in 1993 and has been a loving, quality child care facility ever since. Starting out small made it easy to keep things personal. Wanting to give what they new the treasure valley parents needed "A Home Away From Home"; Someone to love, care for, guide and teach children. Someone they could trust and where the children’s needs come first! Where every boo boo would be kissed. Where manners are a must and boundaries are established. Since 1993, they have raised hundreds of kids that still come back to visit them today.
After being told of Rhonda’s inability to have more children, Steve wanted to be apart of their son’s everyday life as well. Being an apprentice plumber by trade he was already a part of the children’s life a few days a week, so the transition was simple. After the decision was made to work together as a husband and wife team, they bought a small gray house in Meridian to run their mixed aged group facility. With exceptional care and loving devotion, the word spread and a wait list grew and grew. When approached by a child care investigator that they should open up another center or buy another one, they pondered the step. Not wanting to give up the personal attention they gave to the children and the parents, but wanting to touch more children, they decided it was a good step to take. Looking for the right building, right atmosphere and good location took almost a year, but it happened. They purchased "Wee Care" which had been a child care facility for over 30 years, located on Hill road. With an acre of land and a open floor plan facility it was exactly what they were looking for.
Through the years they’ve made minor and major changes to the facility. Upgrades in the kitchen and added numerous outdoor equipment to name a few.
Steve
He has a degree in Mechanical Drafting and was an apprentice plumber after moving to Boise. He is the R House controller, overseeing the books and payroll as well as being in charge of the maintenance of both centers. He is the cook in Meridian as well as a care provider and does the food shopping for both centers. "Stevie" as the kids call him is like a rock star. He pulls up to either center and the kids jump up and down and yell "Stevie’s here! Stevie’s here!" He has been known to wear a batman costume and ride in on his batbike on Halloween as well. Personally he enjoys his Harley, music, football, fishing, boating and camping. He loves the outdoors and honestly he enjoys BEING a kid himself!
Rhonda
She has an associates degree in Child Development and finished her studies in Child Psychology. While starting out in social work, she found it hard not to take her work home with her. She then changed lanes to the business world. When it became impossible to find a child care facility that met her standards, she decided to become what she was looking for. Rhonda has a natural attraction to children. She comes from a lifelong line of teachers. She has an unusual ability to confide a child’s trust and love as well as a natural ability to expect and get boundaries respected immediately. She is very outgoing and social as well as loves to plan and organize. Miss Rhonda is the director of both centers. She writes the preschool program, is in charge of the staff, enrollment of children and the overall management of both centers. Personally she enjoys being with her son, her yellow Harley (named Tweety), fishing, camping and football! Her passion was and always will be children!
